Develop a fluent understanding of camera, light and subject________
This course is your introduction to the skills you need to successfully shoot powerful images in any situation. Students will learn all the controls and functions on their cameras, including basic camera operation (f-stop, shutter speed & ISO), photographic fundamentals and how to produce an intended image. Weโll discuss composition, focus, texture and tone among other stylistic choices.
- Utilize the technical aspects of the camera to embrace your unique perspective.
- Read light and manipulate quality, quantity, and direction with reflectors, diffusion and strobes.
- Work with your subject: gaining access, giving direction and respecting boundaries.

Logistics
- Discussion about fundamentals of the camera and lens, breaking it down so itโs simple to understand.
- Explore a range of inspiring photography to illustrate how certain photographic methods are employed.
- With iconic images fresh in mind, we head outside to shoot.
- After shooting, we review the photographs and discuss how we used the tools to produce the images.
Break
- Review assignment: discuss shooting experience and the resulting images
- Edit the images in Lightroom and Photoshop to give a basic understanding of the developing process and discuss pre-visualization.
- Explore workflow and output to see how these technical tools can be used artistically
