Policy

Atwater Photo Workshops (APW) policies prohibit all sexual misconduct. APW is committed to the prevention of such misconduct, and to the fair treatment of all APW community members in the event of such misconduct. This policy applies to all students, faculty, and staff of APW, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. This policy also applies to third parties.

Disclosures to Alleged Complainants of Crimes of Violence or Non-forcible Sex Offenses.

APW will, upon written request, disclose to the alleged complainant of a crime of violence, or a non-forcible sex offense, the results of any disciplinary hearing conducted by APW against the individual who is the alleged perpetrator of the crime or offense.

Background Checks

APW only performs background checks on individuals who are employed in positions that have direct contact with students enrolled in APW’s Photo Camp. The background check performed includes national and local sex offender registries. Please inquire if you would like a link to our background checks.

The purpose of this policy is to communicate to employees and attendees of Atwater Photo Workshops (APW), which includes Atwater Photo Camp (APC) that APW will not in any instance tolerate bullying behavior. Individuals found in violation of this policy will be disciplined, up to and including dismissal.

APW defines bullying as repeated inappropriate behavior, either direct or indirect, whether verbal, physical or otherwise, conducted by one or more persons against another or others.

Examples
Bullying may be intentional or unintentional. However, it must be noted that when an allegation of bullying is made, the intention of the alleged bully is irrelevant, and will not be given consideration when carrying out discipline. As in sexual harassment, it is the effect of the behavior on the individual that is important. APW considers the following types of behavior examples of bullying:

  • Verbal bullying: Slandering, ridiculing or maligning a person or their family; persistent name calling that is hurtful, insulting or humiliating; using a person as butt of jokes; abusive and offensive remarks.
  • Physical bullying: Pushing, shoving, kicking, poking, tripping, assault or threat of physical assault, damage to a person’s work or property
  • Gesture bullying: Nonverbal threatening gestures; glances that can convey threatening messages.
  • Exclusion: Socially or physically excluding or disregarding a person in school-related activities.

In addition, the following examples may constitute or contribute to evidence of bullying:
